History
You Touch Africa is a new charitable
trust with a number of trustees who have experience of raising
funds for Africa. They were part of a group that successfully raised
money in 2002 for the refurbishment of the Makomu Hospital in
Northern Tanzania.
|
Before this project, the hospital had an old leaking
galvanized iron roof, defective electrical wiring and poor decoration.

The money needed was raised when Fr Arbo Lekule, who was
born in Makomu, led a sponsored climb of the nearby Mount
Kilimanjaro, a concert in London
and other
initiatives.

The funds raised enabled the hospital to be successfully
refurbished by local people in 2003.

After the roof was replaced, the hospital was redecorated
and reequipped.

The re-roofed, repaired and redecorated hospital is now
functioning as a local hospital, serving the needs of the local population.
